Ramadan 2023 is here, and as always, there are lots of lavish iftars going on across the city.

Whether you’re in the mood for a traditional Arabic feast, or prefer to try something a little different when breaking your fast, here’s our guide to all your options for iftars in Abu Dhabi during Ramadan 2023.

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant

Iftars in Abu Dhabi: 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant

You can take breaking your fast to the next level by booking a table at 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant. Throughout Ramadan, the Japanese restaurant will be putting on a 12-course menu, with Emirati dates to start before moving onto signature plates like kobe edamame seared in wagyu fat, tiger prawn tempura and toro flambé nigiri. You’ll finish on a sweet note with mochi ice cream, naturally.

Al Badiya Restaurant

Get out of the city for iftar at an Arabian-inspired hotel this Ramadan. Al Badiya Restaurant will be putting on a spread of classic Arabic dishes, including machboos, beef fatteh, lamb ouzi and kabsa, with Ramadan desserts like luquimat, umm Ali and baklava.

Al Mabeet Desert Camp

You can experience iftar inside a traditional Arabian tent with Bedouin-inspired décor over at Al Wathba this Ramadan. While listening to a Qanoob player you’ll get to tuck into Emirati-style slow cooked lamb with mandi rice and Arabic sweets.

Al Meylas

The iftar set menu at Al Meylas includes a traditional spread of mezzes including fattoush and kibbeh followed by mains such as chicken machboos and mixed grills, before finishing off with the signature cheese kunafa.

Al Rikab Restaurant

The Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club will be putting on a traditional iftar buffet with a live lute player throughout Ramadan.

Amano

The newly opened Italian restaurant Amano is putting on two- and three-course set menus for iftar this year, with every meal kicking off with dates and date smoothies. Dishes on offer including fritto misto verdure, grilled sea bass, zaatar pizza and torellacci pasta. Take your iftar in Abu Dhabi up a notch by booking a one-hour boat cruise with your dinner for Dhs349.

Aptitude Café

Art lovers will enjoy breaking their fast at Aptitude Café at Louvre Abu Dhabi. The café will be serving a set iftar menu featuring authentic middle eastern dishes daily throughout the Holy Month.

Aqua

Looking for iftars in Abu Dhabi with a view? You can get just that at Aqua at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi. On the picturesque terrace you’ll be able to enjoy an iftar buffet offering up hummus, kibbeh, tandoor chicken, lamb ouzi and much, much more. Got a sweet tooth? Arabstick by Splash Garden

Love seafood? Then you should break your fast with an iftar in Abu Dhabi at Catch at St. Regis. This year, you’ll be able to order Ramadan-inspired recipes from the à la carte menu to be enjoyed inside the private tipi tent or in a private igloo on the beach.

Choices and Rangoli

COYA

Iftars in Abu Dhabi 2023: COYA

Celebrate Ramadan the Peruvian way with a set menu iftar in Abu Dhabi from COYA. You’ll break your fast with sweet sukkari dates before sharing guacamole with your loved ones. After that, choose between tomato or creamy corn soup before diving into live bites like aburi nigiri, veal bacon maki rolls and Chilean sea bass rice. Main courses include a spread of quinoa and pumpkin, spicy beef fillet, grilled corn-fed baby chicken and grilled asparagus delivered straight to your table. It wouldn’t be a proper Ramadan feast without dessert, and you will get to try the special delicia de luna dessert, with crémeux, rosewater, pistachio, apricot and camel milk ice cream. Fairmont Bab Al Bahr

You’ll be able to enjoy plates from CuiScene, Marco’s Italian, and Mazaj Bab Al Bahr at the Fairmont’s iftar buffet this year. Expect appetisers like labneh manakish, fried kibbeh and cheese sambousek followed by mains from live stations serving up lamb ouzi as well as Indian and Asian specialties. Hakkasan

Legendary Chinese restaurant Hakkasan is putting on a special set menu for its iftar in Abu Dhabi. Expect appetisers like spicy chicken puff dim sum, chilean sea bass dumpling and roast duck wraps followed by wok-fried prime rib beef, crispy golden prawn and char siu chicken fried rice for mains. Stick around for dessert for sticky date pudding drizzled with chocolate sauce. We’re drooling already…

Layali Al Baraka

Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers has partnered with Emirati chef Khulood Atiq for its Ramadan experience this year. Hosted at the pop-up Layali Al Baraka, the iftar buffet will feature classic Emirati dishes such as lamb machboos, chicken machboos, and the popular dessert luqaimat. Don’t miss it.

LPM Restaurant & Bar

The French restaurant will be serving a Mediterranean-inspired iftar menu this year with dishes that are perfect for sharing with loved ones. Guests can enjoy a four-course meal, which includes soup, dates, a selection of four shared starters, one main course (choose between grilled sea bream with sauce vierge, marinated lamb cutlets, marinated baby chicken, or homemade rigatoni pasta with tomato and chilli), one dessert, and additional side dishes for just Dhs250 per person.

Majlis by the Sea

We’ll take any excuse to visit Emirates Palace, and the Ramadan tent here is a pretty good one. The Majlis by the Sea will feature Arabic and international cuisines served on the outdoor terrace, along with live Arabic instrumental music.

Market at EDITION

Iftars in Abu Dhabi: Market at EDITION

This year, The Abu Dhabi EDITION has teamed up with locally renowned chef Sara Aqel to create a sensational iftar menu. Expect dishes like Mama’s lentil tesa’ai, local honey-baked feta, veal meatballs, moussaka and tomato salad, ending on a sweet note with Teta’s rice pudding, with vanilla, caramel and hazelnut. Better still, on Thursdays and Fridays you’ll get to see chef Aqel in the kitchen whipping up signature plates.

Oasis Tent

Iftars in Abu Dhabi: Oasis Tent

This year, the Park Hyatt on Saadiyat Island will be hosting its Bedouin-style iftar in Abu Dhabi at the Oasis tent.

Penelope’s 

Over at brasserie Penelope’s, you’ll be able to enjoy a three-course meal of starters such as lentil soup, watermelon salad and grilled octopus, mains like prawns linguine or mushroom risotto, and desserts including chocolate fondant and vanilla crème brûlée.

Punjab Grill

In a rush? Punjab Grill is putting on a quick set menu from iftar until 7.45pm, with mains including butter chicken and prawn dum biryani as well as desserts such as umm Ali and Rasmalai. Those with time to indulgent can opt for a decadent six-course tasting menu instead.

Roots

The Yas Acres Golf & Country Club will be hosting its iftar at Roots. You can expect Middle Eastern dishes including hot and cold mezze, lentil soup and mixed grills as well as international favourites.

Saffron

Sahha

It’s a Ramadan feast to remember at Sahha, with dishes from a variety of cuisines including Arabic, Asian and Indian on offer. The buffet has three different menus that will rotate throughout the month, so you can visit again and again without getting bored.

Sevilla Restaurant

Teatro

Looking for a non-traditional iftar experience? Then you should swing by Teatro for a special set menu of signature Asian plates. The menu includes soup, sharing starters of spring rolls, prawn tempura and dal makhani, with your choice of mains such as chicken tikka, miso sea bass or tenderloin. The set menu includes water as well as two kinds of Ramadan beverages.

The St. Regis Abu Dhabi will be putting on a spread of dishes from around the globe at The Terrace on the Corniche this year. Alongside classics like lamb tagine and homemade ouzi, you’ll be able to grab fresh dishes made just for you from live stations, and indulge in sweets from the buffet.

VaKaVa

Peruvian restaurant VaKaVa will be putting a Latin American twist on the classic iftar in Abu Dhabi experience. The Ramadan set menu highlights the signature dishes of the menu, and is best enjoyed with a view from the outdoor terrace.

Vertigo

Dine in the privacy of a private cabana at Vertigo this Ramadan. You can order à la carte dishes such as sharing starters and family style mains, with a minimum spend of Dhs175 per person.

West Bay Lounge
